The Headies Awards is arguably the largest ceremony honouring Nigerian artists and their contributions to the music industry. The 16th edition, which took place in Atlanta, Georgia, included the usual annual drama.

For the first time in a very long the award show was not a show off between the big dogs, especially Wizkid and Davido. The night ended without either of them scoring an award, although Burna Boy bagged two awards.

FEMALE TALENT RECOGNITION IS STILL A MAJOR TOPIC.
While no female act performed on stage throughout the night, no female act was also called upon to receive an award on stage. The announcements were made only via the Headies' social media pages. It is disheartening that topics like this are still being discussed at this age and time. The music industry (in Nigeria especially) is deemed to be male dominated, and fronts like this should do better to encourage our female talents. This subject also sparked reactions all over social media.

As always with other years, the fans wastes no time to express themselves when they feel their favorite was "robbed" from winning a category. Some of the "robberies" that stood out this year were Magicsticks, Khaid and Oxlade.
